The Club provides ecological and heritage tours for the public who would like to learn more about the unique environment and history of the Hong Kong Golf Club at Fanling.

Sights visited on the Fanling Golf Course include very rare and ancient trees, the Club’s Butterfly Garden, African Sulcata Tortoise Sanctuary, Apiary and a graded heritage building – the Old Course Halfway House.

Conditions for participation

  • Participants must hold a Hong Kong Identity Card.
  • The applicant must be aged 18 or above and may register up to three companions, who must be aged 5 or above.
  • Each Hong Kong resident can participate once within 3 months. After participating in an event, participant can participate again after 3 months, based on the date of the event.
  • Because the tour requires some walking across uneven terrain and a busy public road, it is generally unsuitable for unaccompanied persons with reduced mobility. Persons with reduced mobility who wish to join the tour must be accompanied by a chaperone who is able to assist the participant at all times.
 

Points of Interest

Butterfly Garden
Larval and nectar plants have been specially planted to encourage butterfly species to thrive. Nearly half of the 240 butterfly species found in Hong Kong have been recorded at the Club, including the rare and protected Golden and Common Birdwing butterflies.

Heritage Trees
Fanling is home to a great many trees that date back well over a century.

African Sulcata Tortoise Sanctuary
The Club looks after three adopted African Sulcata Tortoises, providing them with a specially designed home for them to prosper.

Apiary
The Club has adopted a large colony of bees, housing them within the nursery area …

Halfway House
A grade III historic building constructed in 1916, it adopts a roof design often found in ancient Chinese royal buildings. The porcelain decoration on the roof ridge is extremely rare.

 

How To Get There

At Sheung Shui station, take bus no 77K to golf club;
Or by taxi about 7 minutes away;
Or walk about 20 minutes away;

*Participants who want to drive to the golf club can use the public parking area located to the east of Fan Kam Road (https://maps.app.goo.gl/PPBVVAPSTEywirys9). Parking is charged at HK$14 per hour. Payment by Octopus only.

Important Notice

  1. Mobile phones should be switched to silent mode while inside the clubhouse and on the course.
  2. To respect and ensure the safety of participants and club personnel, please follow the safety instructions of the staff and do not run around or make loud noises.
  3. Because the tour requires some walking across uneven terrain and a busy public road, it is generally unsuitable for unaccompanied persons with reduced mobility. Persons with reduced mobility who wish to join the tour must be accompanied by a chaperone who is able to assist the participant at all times.
  4. To be environment friendly, participants are suggested to bring their own water bottles. Water dispensers are availible inside the course.


Terms & Conditions

  1. The event is free of charge and open to all Hong Kong residents.
  2. Participants must hold a Hong Kong Identity Card.
  3. The applicant must be aged 18 or above and may register up to three companions, who must be aged 5 or above.
  4. Each Hong Kong resident can participate once within 3 months. After participating in an event, participant can participate again after 3 months, based on the date of the event.
  5. Participants must register through the designated website. On-site or late registration will not be accepted.
  6. All the information provided by the applicant in the registration form must be true and accurate.
  7. The contact information provided by applicants will only be used by the organizer for the following purpose:
    - Notifying you of changes to our services that may affect you;
    - Responding to and following up on your enquiries;
    - Conducting statistical analysis, research, surveys, quality assurance and review;
    All personal data will be kept strictly confidential and will strictly comply with the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance.
  8. Participation in the Event is voluntary and at the own risk of participants. Each participant agrees to absolve the organizer, event producer and any sponsors and/or supporting organizations from all liabilities arising from bodily injuries, accidents, death or other losses during or caused by travelling to and from the event venue, during the event or whatsoever reason.
  9. The organizer bears no responsibility for the personal belongings of applicants during the event.
  10. Successful applicants should receive confirmation email within 2 business days, please contact tour@hkgolfclub.org if you didn't receive email.
  11. Participants can cancel their registration online before 48 hours of the event day. After successful cancellation, they can register for other activities immediately.
  12. No follow-up arrangements will be made for participants who are absent from the event, and they can register again after 3 months.
  13. You agree that any photos or videos taken during the tour may be used for promotional purposes
  14. Hong Kong Golf Club reserves the right to amend the terms and conditions and the right to the final decision.
 

Adverse Weather Arrangements

  1. For safety reasons, the event will be cancelled if Typhoon Signal No. 8 or above is raised, or the Black Rainstorm, the Red Rainstorm or Thunderstorm Warning is in place, at 12:00noon on the day of the activity. Participants are advised to pay attention to the weather conditions before the event.
  2. In the event of unforeseen circumstances at the venue or severe rain in the local area, the organizer reserves the right to cancel the event.
  3. If the event is canceled, participants will be notified by Whatsapp or SMS without making any follow-up arrangements.
